Texture Release: No chemicals, just heat.
What is Texture Release?
We keep hearing that people who have stopped using relaxers, but who aren’t ready for the Big C are going for Texture Release? What is Texture Release? We’re here to give you the 411.
Texture Release is a treatment involving a series of Avlon products that loosen your curls. Thought to be less damaging than traditional relaxers, they work by using heat activated amino acids and conditioning agents.
How is Texture Release different from Relaxers?
Whilst relaxers use chemicals to artificially straighten your hair, Texture release uses heat-activated amino acids. This essentially means you add products to your hair, then your straighten it. No chemicals, just heat.
How long does it last?
We’ve had reports of it lasting anywhere between 1 week and 2 months. This depends very much on your hair type as well as daily routine. Things that make it last longer:
Wrapping your hair up at night
Wearing it in a bun at night
Avoiding adding water to your hair
What are the potential side effects
As with all heat led treatments, artificial heat can damage your hair when used excessively. Please always go to a trained Avlon Texture Release stylist. Here’s some of our favourite Texture Release Hairdressers in London.
Colouring after Texture Release
Girl, don’t do it. Or at least wait 3-5 days after you’ve had it done before adding more hair altering products. Whilst Avlon say it’s ok to colour your hair after a Texture Release, they do advise you to wait a few days before doing so.
So that’s it from us on Texture Release. Have you had it done? Are you thinking of having it done? Let us know how it goes at email@example.com
