Off the back of A/W fashion week 2019 bold lip trends have emerged as the winter consensus. Diving into the personal collection of Midlands (UK) based MUA Imani Rae (@imanirae_makeup) who says she's "passionate about make up as it's always been an escape for me." We’ve got the round up on a few of the best lip licking statements to make this cuffing season.
A huge feature on Autumn / Winter runways, a red lip looks like the foolproof end of year accessory for 2019, generally paired with barely there make-up Louis Vuitton, Helmut Lang and Paco Rabanne are just a few of the high end designers that send their models out with a variant on the killer red lip. "A red lip is always a classic," Imani says getting straight to it, "I prefer to style a red lip with a dark brown lip liner and it helps if you're new to colour, as you can ween yourself into a brighter lip. The classic MAC Ruby Woo and Vino liner is my staple."
"Matte lips are my favourite, as they come in so many shades a subtle nude or purple are usually what I go for. My go to is the 'Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream' in London, 'Nyx Lip Lingerie in Push up' for autumn/winter. I love a cool purple shade, Nyx Lingerie in Embellishment."
Think New Year party, think statement look, then dive in, "Metallic lipstick / lip gloss you can find all year round now, in my personal collection I have the Nyx Duo chromatic in 'Spring It On' which is great if you're just starting out as it's a pink gloss with subtle gold reflects. For a darker metal look, you can use 'FairPlay' with a rich pink reflect."
Goth has come to be something of a modern classic, no longer out-of-bounds when you pass teenage angst, dark colours and black lips can be sleek and contemporary. "feel the fear and do it anyways! it's always my motto when it comes to experimenting."
"These products I've listed are my go-to and they're also affordable."
